What we do know about Edward Crow him comes mostly from the pages of his History. From these, we can deduce much about his interests and what he believed important, but almost nothing about the man in terms of his wife and family, friends, or business. As we shall see, we might infer from these pages his politics, his lack of deference to rank, and, with rather more certainty, his belief in the Deity (but not his religion). On the grounds of his several public offices, we conclude that he was trusted individual within the community.
